St. Elmo’s Flood
We walkers slow
Engulfed by hats and waterproofs
Warmed with laughter
Inspired by lights
beyond the coast line
We fear flooding
as weather exposes
sky electric as the heavens turn in
careening the trees
while birds shelter
in natures spoils
in our vision
turbulent, choppy waters
eye the storm
as the sea floods over
tempered sky
growls
underneath screaming clouds
casting their shadow
in directions
confused by wind
and ozzing sky
Autumn leafs fall
adverse conditions
plague our cause.
